At 14 I started traveling the world with my parents and was hooked! By 21 I was studying abroad in Heidelberg, Germany. By 26 I sold all of my belongings and bought a one way ticket to Germany to teach English. Little did I know, I'd meet the love of my life and end up traveling to the most romantic and idyllic towns in Europe and becoming a long-term expat in Bavaria! My name is Lorelei and I'm just your typical CaliGirl, Sunset Chaser, Fairytale Dreamer, Dress Lover, Traveloholic, Beer Drinker!

  6. Great post! 🙂 I had watched ‘Midnight in Paris’ before going to Paris and the movie did make me look forward to the trip more! Also, I watched Vicky, Christina, Barcelona after coming back from Barcelona but I loved the movie as it brought the memories of my trip back. I will definitely watch ‘In Bruges’ soon as I am going to Bruges next month 🙂

  8. Hi Lolo,
Movies always make travelling fun, especially when it comes to travelling in flights. These movies that you have listed are some of my favorites. The movies not only give us an insight into the countries but show the things we might not come across as tourists.

  13. Hey Lorelei. I have been reading your blog these past months and I’m really glad that I found it because I really really adore old towns, castles and palaces.

I would like to add a period movie on the list to Czech Republic which is Amadeus (1984). It’s about the life of young componist Mozart. I read some information in Lonely Planet Prague that the movie set was in Czech because it looked more like Vienna in the time setting of the movie more than the Vienna itself.

And also I’m so glad that you put some of my favorite movies to the list. I like Leap Year and Under the Tuscan Sun A LOT!!
And you’re right. Watching those movies makes me wanna travel to both Ireland and Italy, not to mention that there are also some meaningful and important messages in the films especially in Under The Tuscan Sun.

Keep on the good work. Good luck!

    • Oh I’m so glad you enjoyed the post! I also hope i have given you some travel inspiration to many of Germany’s old towns and castles!
I have heard of this movie but ever watch it! I’ll have to check it out so thank you for the suggestion! 🙂
